PYRAMID Apartment Program (Plummer Youth Rising to Adulthood: Moving, Imagining, Doing).

PYRAMID is a new, community based apartment initiative designed for youth who have turned 18 while in state care.  These youth:

  • Are young men or women;
  • Do not have family setting into which they can move;
  • Are either working or attending post-secondary school;
  • Receive support from Plummer Home in the form of regularly scheduled phone calls, visits and assistance with things a parent would ordinarily do.

PYRAMID Apartments are leased jointly to Plummer Home and the youth, thus giving landlords assurance that the apartment will be maintained and paid for.  At the outset, Plummer Home pays all necessary deposits and furnishes the apartment.  As the youth becomes more ready to live independently, the apartment is transitions into the youth’s name.

Unlike other independent living programs, which reward success by forcing youth to move out and reestablish themselves, the reward for success in the PYRAMID program is a fully furnished apartment in your own name, with a landlord you know in a familiar community.
